July 11, 2019

Being fit and healthy is an important part of the Hawaiian lifestyle! But, where do we work out? Here is a list of the top five gyms in Hawaii!

1. Valley Isle Fitness

Valley Isle Fitness is a full-service gym. It offers fitness classes, personal training, childcare. It also has a wide variety of weights and cardio equipment. There are two locations, with one in Lahaina and one in Kihei. If you want to try the gym before you actually join, you can buy day or week passes.

2. South Maui Fitness

South Maui Fitness is open 24 hours a day! This is a no-nonsense, inexpensive gym located in Kihei. But, it is different from other gyms. The employees at this gym are only present for eight hours a day. During the rest of the day and night, you can use a special key that will give you 24-hour access. If you want to try this gym before you join, you can buy a weekly pass. While you’re using the pass, you will need to complete the workouts while an employee is present. Once you actually join, you can use your key and work out whenever you want. Just remember, there are no locker rooms or personal training. This gym only has cardio equipment and free weights.

3. Enjoy the Ride

This gym is perfect if you aren’t looking for weights. Enjoy the Ride offers its members spin and yoga classes. It has a candle-lit studio with a huge virtual screen used for their classes. For example, you can sign up for spin classes where you “ride down Haleakala.” The screen makes you feel like you’re biking down a mountain, only without the fear of crashing! If you wish, you can sign up for one class to try it out. If you enjoy it, you can buy more classes.

4. Kaanapali Fitness Center

Kaanapali Fitness Center is in the Aston Kaanapali Shores. You can buy a day or week pass, or you can pay monthly. It’s a resort fitness center, and it has both weight machines and free weights. Daily passes are $10.

5. The Gym Maui

The Gym Maui has a warehouse-like atmosphere, with tons of free weights and plenty of space. The facility offers personal training and has large locker rooms. You can either get a visitor day pass for $12 or a monthly pass $55. The Gym Maui is perfect if you’re interested in lifting weights and metabolic conditioning. The gym also has cardio machines if you want to incorporate those into your workouts as well.
